We offer psychological support at the time of diagnosis, guidance on overcoming overprotection, conversation groups for parents and caregivers, active home visits and assistance in guaranteeing social rights.

Why is Family Support Essential?

When a loved one is born visually impaired or faces lifelong vision loss, The entire family structure undergoes a major emotional, practical and financial reorganization.

At ICCT, we understand that for blind people to gain full independence, mothers, fathers, spouses and children also need qualified care. Our goal is to replace fear and overprotection with knowledge, autonomy and hope for an active future.

Overcoming Fear and Overprotection

Practical guidance for the family to encourage the use of a cane, preparing meals on the stove and independent circulation, without infantilizing the person being assisted.

Emotional Reception in Diagnosis Initial Support

Moments of individual technical listening with the Psychologist and Social Worker to work through the mourning of visual loss or the discovery of the child's congenital diagnosis, relieving the family's anxiety and establishing the first steps of the habilitation plan.

Main Guidance: The diagnosis is not the end of your family member’s dreams! With the correct qualification, he will learn to carry out all activities independently.

Conversation Circle for Caregivers & Spouses

An open therapeutic space where wives, husbands, adult children and caregivers exchange statements and overcome the emotional overload of caring.

Active Home Visits at the Residence

Travel of the ICCT technical team to the assisted person's home in Campinas to observe real family dynamics and provide guidance on physical accessibility.

Provides close monitoring in the environment where the person being assisted spends most of their time, identifying barriers and danger points. Tactile assessment of furniture, lighting, stairs and household routes, in addition to instructing the family not to move furniture without prior notice.

Practical guidance on home organization techniques: tactile labeling of groceries and medicines, safe use of the stove and fall prevention.

It gives the person assisted the pleasure of cooking, cleaning and organizing their own home independently. Use of embossed markers for household appliances, color contrast on crockery for low vision and tactile organization of wardrobes.

Social Rights Guidance (BPC/LOAS & Free Pass)

Social assistance consultancy conducted by the Social Service to enable the documentation of the Continuous Payment Benefit (BPC/LOAS) and Exemptions.

Special Social Protection

Coordination with the Public Services Network (SUAS & SUS)

ICCT works in close partnership with socio-assistance reference centers in Campinas (CRAS and CREAS), health units (SUS), rights councils (CMDCA, CMI) and local businesses, ensuring that the family and the person receiving care are fully supported by the public network.

Referral to CRAS / CREAS

Support in the inclusion of the family in the Single Registry (CadÚnico) and socio-assistance monitoring of vulnerabilities.

Benefits Guidance (BPC/LOAS)

Technical assistance from the Social Service in organizing the medical report and application for the Continuous Payment Benefit.

Free Pass & Free Transport

Processing the request for fare exemption in municipal and intermunicipal transport for the person assisted and accompanying person.
